A Change is soooo much better than a rest...

When I first started Spinning Plates 9 years ago I spent a lot of time explaining what a VA was... the term is so much more common now that I don't need to do that any more.

However, recently I started a shift in my business that means including OBM or Online Business Manager services I’m what I do and I'm now left explaining what an OBM is and how they can support businesses!

Essentially, an OBM, unlike a VA is a more strategic partner in your business. OBMs don't need set tasks and can support you with creating and driving change/growth. I’m going to wrote a blog with more details about the differences and which you might need in your business but in this blog I wanted to share why I’m making this change.

About 6 months ago I met an amazing woman and VA mentor called Kellie Williams, Kellie trains and mentors new VAs or VAs looking to take steps to make their businesses more successful. Before our first chat I couldn’t see how Kellie’s support could fit with Spinning Plates, I’d be running the business for 8 years and had a strong client base- I didn’t need the basics of set up and client finding skills.

I was wrong.

That first conversation with Kellie changed my perception of my business and gave my imposter syndrome the kick up the ass it needed. I hadn’t really been familiar with the difference between OBM and VA services before that and to date my main focus had been to support my client’s business growth- in every way possible. It took that conversation to realise I’d been doing a lot of OBM work the whole time, leaning not only on my corporate career experience but also the past 8 years of working with small business owners and entrepreneurs.

It made me look at the way I was currently running my business and the services I offered- it’s led me to split out my different services to better cater to the needs of my clients and play to my own strengths.

Turns out that after all these years there’s still things I can learn and that as comfortable as it might be to stay still in business, change is inevitable.

I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better.
